During the sailing-ship era large volumes of timber were harvested here for shipbuilding and export. The 5,280 daa property comprises forests, non-productive forests and mountain areas, including biotopes for capercaillie and black grouse. Fossagrim and the landowner have committed to an exclusive contractual agreement securing undisturbed forest growth, preservation of nature values and natural carbon sequestration for a minimum of 30 years, with an estimated climate benefit of 14,810 tonnes CO2 — the largest among Fossagrim's listed projects.
