Kvistaul is a lush, old and natural-looking spruce-dominated forest in Åmotsdal, Seljord, at 600-700 m elevation, with grand spruces over 140 years old and deciduous trees including Norway maple. Maple used by the Italian violin makers Stradivari and Guarneri likely came from similar forests, and according to legend the 1830s fiddle virtuoso Myllarguten learned to play the hardingfiddle from the Fossagrim here in the 1820s.

Fossagrim and the landowner have entered an exclusive contractual agreement securing continued and undisturbed forest growth and natural CCS for a minimum of 30 years.
